All genius is simple: locations for photo shoots that can be found in any city
Published: 09.02.2021
Today, every social media user considers a photo an integral part of their life. But what to do if all the beautiful and trendy things have become boring and you want something new? The answer is simple - look for locations for a photoshoot.
A few years ago, almost everyone with a profile on Instagram or Facebook considered it their duty to book a photo shoot with a photographer who shoots in a beautiful and expensive studio. We will dispel the myth that truly memorable shots can only be taken in a location where the placement of every decor item is defined to the millimeter.
Let's be a little bit classic and say: "All genius is simple, and all simple is genius." After all, you can find a place for an unusual and memorable photo even on your way to work, school, or to the nearest store.
At the right time in the right place
Before starting the review of places for an unusual photo shoot, let's talk about the fact that the key to a beautiful picture is not only the location and lighting, but also the mood of the model herself. If you feel awkward in front of the camera, invite someone as a photographer who you won't be afraid to be uninhibited, funny, awkward, and sincere in front of. If all your close ones are busy, use a tripod.
Photo against textures
It may seem simple, but in such a neutral location, you can experiment with everything: lighting, clothing colors, props brought with you, makeup, accessories, poses. Play with emotions: show sadness, fear, surprise, or joy.
Experienced photographers claim that neutral textured walls will not distract attention from the person in the frame. It is you who will be the focal point of the composition.
If you can't find a textured wall in your area, create one yourself. For this, a stack of ordinary newspapers will be suitable. If desired, they can be artificially aged by coloring them with tea or weak coffee.
Glue the sheets to the support near which you have decided to take a photo (this could be a wall, fence, or concrete slab). Keep in mind that for truly atmospheric shots, you need to cover not only the wall but also the part of the floor where you will be standing. Put on glasses, take books, pens, pencils, paints, and a laptop with you. Try on the image of a journalist or even a writer, and successful shots will be guaranteed.
Parks and Squares
Professional photographers claim that greenery looks great in any shot. Perhaps, it will be easiest to find a location for a photoshoot in this style. Parks, squares, or forests will be perfect for this.
A great luck would be if there is a botanical garden or greenhouse with unusual plants and a glass roof in your city. But if such a place is not available, it is not a reason to cancel the long-awaited photoshoot.
Take a transparent umbrella, battery-powered fairy lights, and, waiting for dusk, head to the nearest park to photograph a fairy tale.
Playing along at such a location can also depend on the season. You can also read about ideas for autumn photos inour article.
Water is always interesting in a frame
Any body of water will be suitable for implementing this idea, it's not necessary to go to the sea, as successful shots can be taken on the banks of a river or lake. Water will always look great in your photos, thanks to reflections, glares, or movement from the wind. Moreover, next to the body of water, you can shoot an impressive love story.
Architecture
Unusual photos can be taken against the backdrop of even the most inconspicuous buildings. It all depends on your preferences: whether you like modern or historical buildings. Office buildings and geometric textures are perfect for such shots. Any photographer will tell you that warehouses or factories are their favorite places. Equally atmospheric in this regard are unused railway platforms or subway pedestrian crossings.
It should not be forgotten that striking shots can also be taken in the courtyard of a regular high-rise building.

Roads
Roads look great in any frame. Whether it's narrow bike paths, marked running tracks, or a road illuminated by car headlights at night. If there is a pedestrian bridge in your city located above a busy road, arm yourself with a camera and confidently go capture masterpieces. By facing away from the moving traffic, you can take some really cool shots with a blurred background.
No less mesmerizing shots can be taken on a road passing through the forest. Typically, this stretch of road is lightly traveled, and encountering cars there is rare.
Modern parking
Today, practically every shopping center or large supermarket is equipped with a parking lot capable of accommodating several hundred cars. Typically, a photoshoot at such a location can be successful at any time of day and in any weather conditions. Since most of these parking lots are equipped with artificial lighting sources, they will add atmosphere to your photos.
Moreover, the presence of partitions will protect from wind gusts, and the covering will protect from rain or snow.
Cool photos deserve unusual framing. Print your cool photos in a Polaroid style. Fans of instant photography from the 90s can experience familiar feelings by holding a photo in the style of a Polaroid. For those unfamiliar with traditional Polaroids, square images with space for captions will be appealing.
Graffiti
Today, structures with drawings by street artists have become a very popular location for photo shoots. Once considered vandalism, modern art is winning the hearts of more and more city dwellers every day.
Your photos will be particularly special with a harmonious combination of the subject and the background, and you can find dozens and hundreds of them to suit any taste. Graffiti will make your photos bright, dynamic, and modern.
To take cool photos for your social media or family archive, you don't necessarily have to pay for an expensive photo studio or hire a professional photographer. Every day we pass by dozens of seemingly unremarkable places that can serve as a beautiful location for your photos. And you don't even have to be a professional model to take beautiful pictures.
No matter what anyone says, the key to the coolest photos is sincerity. After all, the most successful photos are those where each of us feels real and happy.
